He’s here! The Phantom of the Opera!

This June, the rights to perform Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” were released. Now high schools and colleges around the country have the chance to stage this Broadway smash musical! Costume Holiday House has provided costumes for other plays of Gaston Leroux’s classic romantic tale including the Kopit and Yeston’s musical “Phantom” We are very excited for the release of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical! Currently we are updating our existing stock of costumes from the time period to provide costumes for the special needs of this production. “The Phantom of the Opera” has been seen by over 100 million people in 27 countries around the world. And now with the release of the musical for school, it has the chance to be brought to stages all around the country and experienced by audience who haven’t had the opportunity to see it on a Broadway stage. Phantom debuted in London with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. When it came to the states, it swept the Tony Awards in 1988 winning Best Musical and six other awards. On January 9, 2006 it became the longest running production on Broadway and continues playing today with over 9,000 performances!

The musical is based on the 1910 French novel by mystery writer and journalist, Gaston Leroux. It tells the story of Erik, a deformed genius who lives in the cellars of the Paris Opera. Wearing a mask and hiding in the shadows, he terrorizes the staff and patrons of the opera earning him the title of the Phantom of the Opera. He falls madly in love with a young singer Christine and uses all his powers to catapult her to stardom and earn her love in return. If you school has been lucky enough to secure rights for this show and are looking for rental costumes, please contact our theater department. “They have such great costumes and extras for all your costume needs all year round.

They have a children’s section as well as extras for any existing costume you might have already, and need to renew our replace accessories. They also have a large selection of costumes for your organization, church or group and have all the up to date make up and wigs for every need you might have.

Overall I would say that most any item you might need quickly you would have available year round and not need to pay extra to have it delivered from an online source.
